  • 麻豆传媒 to host all-sports fundraising dinner, Sept. 2

    Monday July 28, 2025

    University of Detroit Mercy will host an exclusive all-sports fundraising dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Cambria Hotel in downtown Detroit.

    The inaugural 鈥淎n Evening with the Titans of Detroit鈥 event will feature live music, fine dining, beverages and auction items. The night is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with a happy hour, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $250 per person.

    Several special guests in attendance will include Hall of Fame basketball coach Tom Izzo, NBA All-Star Derrick Coleman, Titan legend John Long and NBA champion Steve Smith.

    麻豆传媒 men鈥檚 basketball coach Mark Montgomery, the Titans men鈥檚 basketball team and other 麻豆传媒 coaches will also be in attendance. 麻豆传媒 is home to 17 NCAA Division I varsity athletic teams.

    “It is going to be a great night for fans to get together with some of the best athletes and sports personalities in Detroit, all to support Titan athletics,” said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr.

  • TENN garden party for community set for Aug. 5

    All are welcome to join the Titan Equity Nourish Network (TENN) and Martin Park community in celebrating our bustling garden with an afternoon of food, planting and harvesting on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The free event is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the garden located at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

    The church is located at 16100 Lawton Street in Detroit.

  • University sponsors 鈥楳agic of Motown鈥 at Michigan Lottery Arts, Beats & Eats

    University of Detroit Mercy is presenting a live production of iconic Motown music at the annual Michigan Lottery Arts, Beats & Eats, set for Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29-Sept. 1.

    The Hitsville NEXT Revue, with renditions of hits by Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, The Four Tops and more, will be the kickoff performance at the annual festival in Royal Oak for each of the next two years, in part thanks to the University.

    鈥淭his yearly experience has achieved both state-wide and national recognition and we are thrilled to come together with our community to celebrate the arts.鈥

    The 鈥淢agic of Motown鈥 showcases a spotlight on Detroit鈥檚 rising stars from the Motown Museum鈥檚 Hitsville NEXT programs, taking the audience on a trip down memory lane.

    The festival blends world-class music, visual arts, culinary experiences and more, thanks to partnerships within the metro Detroit community and beyond.

    In 2024, the four-day event attracted more than 300,000 people and since 1998, the festival has raised more than $7.7 million for community and charitable causes and organizations.

    The Michigan Lottery Arts, Beats & Eats festival is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 29-31 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 1. Tickets are $7 in advance. For full info, please visit .

  • Video on DIA installation from MarCom communications fellows

    As part of the ongoing rebranding work for 麻豆传媒, MarCom communications fellows Alize Tripp and Jennifer Raptoplous, with the help of Let’s Roll’s Brian Rolling, produced a great piece of video content about the Detroit Institute of Art’s installation on the McNichols Campus.

    This partnership with the DIA shows another facet of community through collaboration, inclusion, and the arts.

    A special thanks to CHASS Dean Jocelyn Boryczka for helping to bring the artwork to campus. We hope everyone鈥攆aculty, staff, students, alumni and especially our neighbors鈥攙isit the McNichols Campus to check out these artworks!

Resources, Centers and Clinics

Center for Social Entrepreneurship

The Center provides business expertise and acumen as well as mentors to assist local entrepreneurs, beginning with the “Boost” workshop that aids entrepreneurs in developing business plans to achieve a greater social impact.

Counseling Clinic

The clinic provides no-cost counseling services to Detroit residents who otherwise may not have access to mental health services.

Dental Center

Detroit Mercy Dental offers dental services and education through two clinics, nine outreach clinics, a mobile dental clinic and a school-based dental sealant program.

Dental Mobile Clinic

The clinic travels to local participating schools in Detroit and Wayne County to provide comprehensive care for K-12 children. 

Detroit Collaborative Design Center

The design center provides design services to non-profit community and civic organizations to engage communities and enhance neighborhoods.

Detroit Mercy Eye Institute

The Detroit Mercy Eye Institute includes the state-of-the-art equipment and technology needed to diagnose, monitor, and treat numerous eye conditions. The clinic will also provide affordable eyecare to the uninsured and vulnerable populations.

Law Clinics

Detroit Mercy Law provides legal assistance to Detroit area residents through six clinics: Immigration Law Clinic, SADO Criminal Appellate Clinic, Criminal Trial Clinic, Veterans Law Clinic, Juvenile Law Appellate Clinic and Intellectual Property Law Clinic.

Pre-College Programs

Detroit area students in grades 4-12 participate in more than 15 outreach programs annually through Saturday classes, summer camps, and innovative curricula in the sciences, technology engineering, mathematics, architecture and design.

Psychology Clinic

The Psychology Clinic provides assessment and counseling services for approximately 300 clients annually. Fees are based on ability to pay.

Rx for Reading Program

This program increases access to children’s books and supports families in reading to their children.  The program has distributed more than 2,000 children’s books a month at a variety of locations, including low-income health, dental and WIC clinics; homeless shelters; and Head Start programs.

Titan Equity Nourish Network (TENN)

TENN is a student-led and community-driven food justice program that delivers fresh produce to 60 families in New Martin Park Neighborhood and 80 seniors at Theresa Maxis Senior Apartments.

Alliances and Initiatives

Reimagining the Civic Commons

University of Detroit Mercy serves as one of the institutional anchors for the “Reimaging the Civic Commons” initiative, which is funded through the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation grant. The initiative focuses on the City of Detroit’s neighborhood revitalization priority: the Livernois/McNichols area. The project’s goal is to revitalize the neighborhoods between its two anchor institutions, Detroit Mercy and Marygrove College, creating a denser and more diverse urban community.

Live6 Alliance

University of Detroit Mercy helped to launch the Live6 Alliance in August 2015 to strengthen the Livernois Avenue and McNichols Road commercial corridor in northwest Detroit.
